The Spout Springs Repeater Association is an active VHF Amateur Radio Association with repeaters high in the Beautiful Blue Mountains of Northeastern Oregon, and in the Tri-Cities of Washington.
Our mission at the Spout Springs Repeater Association (SSRA) is to mentor new hams, enhance fellowship among radio amateurs, provide emergency and public service communications support to our communities, and further the interests of amateur radio. This shall be accomplished by providing guidance, mentoring and encouragement geared toward our communities potential new amateur radio operators. Always striving to be excellent ambassadors of the Amateur Radio Hobby.
Our Oregon location is at 5580 feet, with an 80′ tower. We are above the Spout Springs Ski Area, halfway between Weston and Elgin Oregon along Highway 204
We use YAESU DR-2X DIGITAL repeaters in service at both repeater locations.
Our Oregon elevation is 5,580 feet and the tower raises the antenna up another 80′. We have a large footprint of coverage South to Baker City, Oregon and North to Ephrata and Grant County Washington. West through the Yakima Valley, East to Moscow Idaho and the Lewiston Clarkston area. Many of our users are in the Tri-Cities Washington of Richland/Pasco/Kennewick, and the Northeast corner of Oregon (Pendleton, La Grande and Baker City).
Although our repeaters are”OPEN”, we encourage regular users to please consider becoming financial supporters. Our repeaters are funded entirely by voluntary contributions.
We are also governed by By-Laws and have elected President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer positions. They are published on our website.
It is our hope that you meet many of the fine amateur radio operators in our area, using your license to its’ fullest. We encourage you to learn all that you can about your radio, your antenna and develop your technical skills. To facilitate this, we host dozens of “Nets” each month. Ken, KD7FYR hosts a WEATHER NET daily at 6 AM. Then, a different net control operator hosts a nightly Social Net at 7 PM. These have been excellent venues to socialize and show our hospitality to one another. Please check-in sometime and introduce yourself!
We encourage all stations to be “Goodwill Ambassadors” to one another, and continue to represent our hobby of Amateur Radio well.
